History
- Betamax was a type of video technology developed in the 1980's
- They consist of a long tape that is placed in a plastic casing. The duration ranged from 1 hour to super long 6-hour tapes
- There was a war of formats way back when, between VHS and Betamax, and VHS won, becoming the predominant format wordwide.
- Even though VHS won, technically Betamax was better
Downsides
- Non-digital formats will lose their picture and sound quality when left alone. If you leave them for more than about 15 years, they may gain static over the video and the sound will be less audible. This gets worse with time.
- This happens when dirt, water and other elements affect the magnetic tape, causing the quality to downgrade over time.

What video format will my betamax tapes be?
Yes! While, on default, we convert Betamax tapes to MP4, we can also convert them to avi, mpeg, quick time, and mov at your request. We do, however, recommend that you have your tapes converted to MP4. This is because MP4 is a global standard, meaning it should work on almost all devices.

We can Transferboth Pal and NTSC tapes.
Tapes from Europe, Australia, some of Asia and South Africa use the PAL format , whereas NTSC tapes are from the United States of America and Canada.

We also offer a service where we can clean dirt and mold off of your tapes. It is highly advisable that you do not attempt this yourself as it can be quite dangerous

Other questions you may have
Yes! We do not limit to the amount of tapes that we convert, this is service for everyone, be they individuals or companies.
The quality of your tapes will be dependent on their current state. However we do offer AI enhancement on small clips from your tape as an additional service (not included in this service)
You can either bring your own USB flash drive/portable HDD or we can provide you with one. You will, however, need to make sure that you have enough capacity on your drive to be able to store all your tapes.

We suggest that when you have the video files on your computer, you make duplicates of the video files s. This will help ensure that they last a really long time as the more copies you have of the file, the lower the chances of file loss. This is a good reason to email video links of your tapes to your friends and family so you can all enjoy them for years to come!
