History
- CDs were invented in the 1980s
- CDs work by using a laser to read data off the disc
- CDs were a controversial invention at there time because while many people argued that they were a far superior format to analogue technology such as LPs, they were expensive and many people still preferred LPs. Eventually they caught on in the 2000s.
Downsides to CDs
- The problem with recordable DVDs is that even though they are recorded digitaly, the process is still physical
- This means that a process called disc rot can take effect
- Disc rot is the degradation of the physical disc, resulting in data loss. The longer you leave the DVD, the worse the rot will get
