History
- VHS-C was a format that enabled people to record home movies from the 80’s to the early 2000’s. The technology involved a long tape that was encased in a plastic shell and was recorded onto using a video camera.
- The VHS-C tape was then put inside an adapter that turned it into a regular VHS tape that allowed it to be played on a VCR player.
- While this technology was a very efficient and inexpensive way to record movies during this time period, it was deemed outdated by the late 2000’s. It was replaced by more digital recording methods such as MiniDV’s and purely digital cameras.
Downsides to VHS
- The problem with VHS-C tapes is that over time they will lose their quality.
- While they are left in your garage, cupboard or in storage the elements will slowly wear away the sensitive tape rendering the visuals and audio damaged. If left long enough the video could be lost entirely.
- When you convert your VHS-C to a digital file you are effectively stopping this process. This allows your precious home movies to be enjoyed forever (provided you back up the files)

What format will you save my VHS-C tapes?
We transfer VHS-C tapes to the universal standard of MP4. This allows you to watch your tapes on almost all devices. We generally convert the tapes to MP4 but we can also offer other well-known formats including mpeg , avi, mov , and quicktime.

WHAT IS NTSC ?
We convert NTSC VHS-C to digital.
PAL and NTSC are two VHS-C formats. Tapes from Australia, Europe, some of Asia and South Africa use the PAL format , whereas NTSC tapes are from the USA and Canada.
